Gelişmiş ülkelerde zengin ve fakirler arasındaki uçurum genişledi.
Ekonomik İşbirliği ve Kalkınma Örgütü’nün (OECD) yaptığı son çalışma, üye 22 ülkeden 17 sinde gelir adaletsizliğinin artarak son otuz yılın zirvesine çıktığını ortaya koydu.
Örgütün Genel Sekreteri Angel Gurria bu farkın daha iyi eğitim sistemi, iş gücü reformu ve daha adil dağıtımla azalabileceğini belirtse de tehlikenin boyutlarını göz önüne sermekten de kaşınmıyor:
“OECD ülkelerindeki gelir adaletsizliği son yarım yüzyıldaki en üst seviyesinde. En zengin yüzde onluk kesimin ortalama geliri, en fakir yüzde onluk kesimin ortalama gelirinin dokuz katı. Yirmi beş yıl önce bu oran yedi katıydı.”
Rapora göre uçurumun en fazla arttığı ülkeler Meksika, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, İsrail ve İngiltere olurken farkın daraldığı üç ülke Türkiye, Fransa ve Yunanistan oldu. Macaristan ve Belçika’daysa bir değişiklik olmadı.

For all you people who've only seen the matrix, CTHD, and think fight club features the best fighting ever, you ain't seen nothing yet. Iron Monkey features Hong Kong movie making at one of its best. For those of you who couldn't find a plot, I don't know what kind of movie you saw or how well you pay attention to a movie but I found the plot to be about a good doctor who helps the poor, and the oppressive govt official that's after him. And it gets complicated by Donnie Yen's character. And sorry, for those of you who don't know, there's no literal Monkey made out of Iron in this movie just like there are no crouching tigers or hidden dragons in that movie. But Iron Monkey is a martial arts classic.

Gürcistan ve Rusya, Rusya’nın Dünya Ticaret Örgütü (DTÖ) üyeliği konusundaki anlaşmayı imzaladı. Rusya böylece, 18 yıldır mücadele ettiği DTÖ üyeliği için son aşamayı da geçmiş oldu.

Rusya’nın üyeliğinin tarihi bir adım olduğunu belirten, Dünya Ticaret Örgütü Çalışma Grubu Başkanı Stefan Johannesson,
“Bu haber, dünya ekonomisi için çok güzel bir gelişme”
dedi.

Gürcistan ile Rusya arasında 2008 yılındaki kısa süreli savaştan kaynaklanan ticaret anlaşmazlığını çözmek için yapılan görüşmeler, İsviçre’nin aracılığı ile sürüyordu.

DTÖ üyesi ülkelerin Rusya’nın üyeliğini 15-17 Aralık’ta Cenevre’de yapılacak toplantıda onaylaması bekleniyor.

The V.I.P.s is a 1963 film gem starring off-screen couple Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Elizabeth Taylor plays Frances, a pampered society wife neglected by her businessman tycoon husband (Richard Burton). Frances's plan to run away with her suave French playboy lover (Louis Jourdan) is foiled by a flight delay. The situation is further complicated by spurned husband Paul's unexpected appearance on the scene in a last-ditch attempt to win back his estranged wife. Thus, Frances is faced with the predicament of choosing between the two men vying for her affections.

Lots of humor, especially from Rutherford in a role that won her the Best Supporting Actress Award. TV's David Frost made his film debut here as a reporter, and all of the other actors were splendid. This kind of movie, a GRAND HOTEL in a smaller space, could have been a crashing bore, but Asquith's snappy direction and some bright lines from Rattigan's script saved the day. Filmed in England for a reasonable figure, it made scads of money wherever it was shown. While shooting, the working title was "International Hotel." Smith was excellent, and it was a toss-up as to which actress (Taylor or Smith) would be nominated for the Oscar. Rozsa's score sounded a little too much like his music for BEN-HUR.

Among those interviewed for the film are Ronald Wayne, co-founder of Apple Computer, Co. with Jobs and Steve Wozniak; Bill Fernandez, who is credited with introducing Jobs to Wozniak and was also Apple Computer's first employee; Robert Palladino, calligraphy professor at Reed College whose classes Jobs acknowledged with inspiring his typography design for the Apple Mac; Walt Mossberg, who covered Jobs as the principal technical journalist for The Wall Street Journal; Dean Hovey, who designed the mouse for Apple; Robert Cringley, who interviewed Jobs for his documentary Triumph of the Nerds; and Dr. Alvy Smith, co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios, which Jobs acquired in 1986.

In addition to those who knew and worked with him, Steve Jobs – One Last Thing features a never before broadcast, exclusive interview with Jobs. Speaking a year after he was first diagnosed with cancer, Jobs expounds on his philosophy of life and offers advice on changing our own life to achieve our ambitions, desires and dreams: "Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact, and that is, everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you ... the minute that you understand that you can poke life ... that you can change it, you can mould it ... that's maybe the most important thing."

Steve Jobs – One Last Thing takes its name from a catchphrase Jobs used to tease and titillate audiences at the many successful publicity launches he helmed for the ever evolving Apple product line. Uluslararası siber güvenlik konferansı Londra’da başladı. İki gün sürecek konferansa internet ve teknoloji

alanında uzmanlar ve şirket temsilcilerinin yanı sıra bakan seviyesinde katılımlar da olacak.

Sanal alemin tüm sorunları konferansta masaya yatırılacak.

Konferansa ev sahipliği yapan İngiltere Dışişleri Bakanı William Hague, internetin geleceğiyle ilgili düşüncelerini şöyle dile getirdi:

“Gelecekte sadece denetim ve sansür mekanizmalarıyla anılan bir siber uzaydan ziyade, yeniliklerin ve

yaratıcılığın beşiği olan ve bunların ödüllendirildiği bir internet ortamına sahip olmak için kafa yormamız

gerektiğine inanıyorum… Biliyorum, bazı ülkeler bu niyetimizi paylaşmıyor ama onlar için de vatandaşlarının ifade hürriyetini engellemek giderek daha da zorlaşacak.”

Konferansta özellikle siber uzayın güvenliği konuşulacak.

Kaspersky Lab’in araştırmasına göre dünyada her 10 şirketten 9’u, Türkiye’de ise şirketlerin yüzde 95’i en

As in all of his films, Bresson attempts to go beyond the surface and reveal the soul of his subject, his purpose here being to show how it was, from an inner perspective, that Joan was driven to recant her faith and thereby seal her fate. Whilst the film is far less moving than Dreyer’s masterpiece, it is an effective work which says a great deal about human nature, particularly the resilience of the human spirit. The script is based on a transcript of notes taken from the actual trial of Joan of Arc, something which gives the film a curious timeless quality. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1962.

Joan's convicted of heresy, as the bogus trial is only about getting revenge--the transcripts show no proof of her guilt was ever established. Bresson wisely lets the drama speak for itself, adding no false dramatics or emotional outcries. It proves to be a richly moving experience, especially the last shot of Joan in her purity being burned at the stake. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival of 1962.

One of very few widescreen productions filmed at the dawn of the talkies, The Big Trail was dismissed by reviewers of the day, little seen, and soon shelved and forgotten--for more than half a century, as it turned out. Restored in the late 1980s and warmly embraced by film festival audiences, The Big Trail proved to be more than just a historical footnote. What were those 1930 reviewers thinking?! Wayne is fresh, exuberant, matinee-idol handsome, and irresistibly charming. The scenario winds through epic settings from the banks of the Mississippi by way of the Grand Canyon to the snows of Oregon and the mountain vistas of Washington, marking both a wagon train's journey and the settling of a personal score between trail guide Wayne and Tyrone Power Sr. as a veritable ogre of a villain. (A villain off-camera, too: Legend holds that Walsh had the actor beaten nearly to death for attempting to force himself on leading lady Marguerite Churchill.) The Big Trail is now an authentic classic, and a swell movie. Probably always was.

Nell is a girl who's been brought up in an isolated world. The only people she knew were her mother and twin sister. They lived together in a cottage in the forest. Nobody has ever met Nell. He's fascinated by her, since she speaks a mangled language, developed by her sister and herself growing up, "twin speak" if you will. But Paula, a psychology student, wants her observed in a laboratory. The judge decides they get three months to observe her in the forest, after which he'll decide about Nell's future.
